I really enjoyed this one! I found the questions so fascinating I was tempted to pull out my journal and use them on myself only. I also appreciated Jed's honesty that life happens-- from jobs, kids and carpools, you HAVE to make an effort to connect with your spouse. A great marriage is not an object of destiny, it is a product of work. But this book shows that the "work" can be fun, as well as free. I will be referring to this book a lot as my future unfolds!
I am not going to spoil it for you, but my favorite part about this book was by far the three secrets of connecting in a relationship. They seem like they should have been obvious, but it was honestly something I had never even considered before and I am already noticing positive changes in my own.
Additionally this other has a fun and easy to read Style. Which is not always the easiest to find in this genre.
As you imagine there is no shortage of books on love marriage and relationships. I received this book as a free book from the author in exchange for a Review.
I enjoyed reading book it is very well written and I love the questions the author put throughout the book as a way to have conversation starters.
Too many people have relationships without wondering why you are attracted to each other.
Having the question starters puts everyone on a level playing field so you can figure out why you are attracted to in this person.
I heartily recommend this book to people who are getting to know each other, thinking about marriage and even in marriage wondering what's next.
To many people get married or have long-term relationships and don't know what to do next.
For me, "Love Talks" does a great job of really digging into the questions that couples don't think to ask. I don't read a lot of relationship books but the ones I've come across stick to superficial topics. This book asks questions about dreams, goals, and inner motivations, stuff that we assume but we don't verbalize. That "stuff" is what drives us. Yet, we find it so hard to talk about.Some of the questions in this book are really insightful, but others are a little bit on the light-hearted side. Even in those light-hearted questions, the answer reveals a deep insight into how your partner believes or thinks.
Great collection of books if you are looking to connect deeper with your partner and don't know how you can get started. (You don't need to sit down and ask all of the questions and follow the book in one sitting.) How you integrate the book's wisdom in your life is up to your own design.
The books' overall purpose is to help you communicate on a deeper level and I think is does a great first step in helping you follow that direction.
Also, a great book for counselors and therapists.There's plenty of material to draw from, especially in the interview and assessment stage when a couple is sorting through their initial frustrations and concerns.
